Instructor Profile:

The course is taught by Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, one of the APA’s Collaborating Investigators for the DSM-5 and a participant in development of the upcoming International Classifcation of Diseases, Version 11 as a member of the World Health Organization’s Global Clinical Practice Network. She has more than 20 years of experience in the mental-health field including in HMOs, public agencies, and private practice, as well as providing clinical supervision and consultation. She has taught DSM-5 courses throughout the United States, was the Lead Curriculum Developer on the DSM-5 for the California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions, and was the closing plenary speaker at a major social-work conference (900+ participants) focused on the DSM-5. She also teaches courses in supervision, law and ethics, childhood psychopathology, and vicarious traumatization at universities, conferences, and mental- health agencies. In her private practice in Oakland, California she provides clinical supervision, and works with adults and couples.
